It was nightfall as Red scaled the cliff face. Fortunately it was a rather pockmarked wall of stone and Red’s clawed hands were excellent for scaling it. Still, even she found it hard to believe that she was going through all the trouble to save an ungrateful brat. Red was already tired from the long hike to the canyon and she had guzzled down half of her canteen, but she knew she couldn’t afford to stop; time was precious. Finally reaching the summit Red looked around cautiously and took a few sniffs of the air. A strong breeze was blowing in, probably heralding another lightning storm judging by the cloud cover.
